Southern41™ (thermally broken)
A thermally efficient system that will keep more of the heat in and the cold out.
This frame is built with a thermal break to stop the heat from escaping and keep more heat inside your home. All to provide you with a more comfortable healthier home all year round.
The unique Southern41™ thermal break not only builds on the impressive insulating properties of double glazing but also delivers incomparable structural strength whilst combining traditional and modern aesthetic options.
Just as double glazing prevents warmth or cold from escaping through glass, the thermal break in an aluminium frame does the same for your joinery by stopping any heat transfer via the metal.
The result is an increased R-value rating enabling Southern41™ to provide maximum protection against condensation, which makes it easier for you to maintain your home at an optimal ‘healthy home’ minimum temperature of 18º Celsius, not to mention the significant energy savings on offer.
The R-value* is a measure of how well a product insulates – the greater the value the greater the insulation properties.
Southern 41 thermally broken frames are used to meet the current H1 requirements for new builds in our zone of New Zealand through the Healthy Homes initiative.
This is achieved by pairing Southern 41 with Low-E (Low Energy) double-glazing (with argon gas) to reach an R-Value of R0.5. This meets all the standards currently required by the government.
